Unai Emery? Best available Head Coach Arsenal could have hired

From Alex Darby:

Unai Emery? I’ll take that.

A manager that not only studies the opposition, but also expects his players to do the same? Sounds like attention to detail!

Might be a huge culture shock for the players who will no longer be playing under someone so arrogant that he thought that incessant sideways passing in the midfield would lead to global success.

AND he dislikes Mourinho? I’ll give him 5 years leeway just for that!

Thus has passed the winter of our discontent? Mine has at the very least.

All the best! Looking forward to you writing about New Arsenal.

From Martin:

Emery has a track record as a coach, has been under fire, has already handled heavy expectation and surely he is a far better option than Arteta for the Arsenal that Arsene has left behind?

Do not doubt what you say on Arteta, so maybe Arsenal have lucked out that Emery has somehow jumped over Arteta?

Whatever the outcome it’s just good to think and talk about something else as the rot and stagnation was set so deep and had killed the enthusiasm of the most diehard fans.

Tucked away in woods of Centerparcs this week, some time with family off the work clock. Have no time for blogs etc but always appreciated your open style of writing, though I do always not agree. I am an Arsenal fan so maybe the rose tints sometimes have masked the facing of facts.

From Mohsin Siddiqi : Many Arsenal players not going to the World Cup

Hi Myles,

Hope you’re well, exciting times ahead finally!!

Even if we’re awful, it’ll be a different type of awful.

I’m actually really looking forward to seeing Arsenal again.

I wonder how significant it might be that many of our squad aren’t going to the World Cup? A chance for Emery to prepare properly might see us make a fast start at least, which always helps.

Myles says:

This will not be awful.

Unai Emery is a savvy operator who knows how football matches are won. Arsenal’s left back will never be 90 yards away from his goalkeeper again.
