Wenger was pragmatic after all, says Darren B

Too much the idealist?

That’s a criticism of Wenger but Arsenal’s defence was terrific, Djourou’s display utterly stunning.

When Inter parked the bus and got through, Mourinho was a hero. When Wenger’s injury-hit team are on the verge of achieving the same, all we hear is how good Barcelona are and how Wenger has abandoned principles.

Isn’t Wenger just being pragmatic?

Had Wenger had Walcott we would have torn Barcelona’s suspect centre back pairing to pieces on the break.

Fact is  : from  140 to 180 minutes, Arsenal led Barcelona 3-2.

Had the ref not sent Van Persie off, who knows what may have transpired? Barcelona might have tired again and Arsenal come into things more.

We all saw it was close and we never saw the end of  an interesting  contest. We’ll never know now. We’ll never know what might have happened.

An  officious little Swiss ref took that from us by sending off Van Persie for almost nothing.

But the match was four days ago and it’s  now time to move on. It’s time to draw a line under  it.

It’s time to draw a line  under Mr Massimo Busacca.

Here is the line: _________________

Here’s  a better line : Massimo Busacca.

Enough already!
