Odd noises from Wenger this week

Some pretty strange comments from Wenger this week

His remarks about ending up at PSG were uncharacteristic and the timing was rather strange,

He said, ” It’s not impossible. But it wouldn’t be in a coaching role. PSG is the only club in the world which is based in an area of 10 million inhabitants and doesn’t have any competition. What needs to be done is to get a group of investors around the table to provide the club with some financial muscle.”

Seven weeks after signing a three-year extension at Arsenal, taking him to 2014, Wenger’s saying : Come and get me!

The man who loathes “financial doping” is now inviting investors to make him the King of Paris !

He could capitalise on his popularity in France,  hire a coach to take the bullets, and pursue his strategies in his homeland once more.

Such a coronation could happen quicker than he thinks. Changes can happen suddenly in football. Or maybe he said this now because he knows something we don’t about the ownership of Arsenal.

Looks like a smart exit-strategy by the professor and ANR wishes him the best of luck in his new venture. Especially if he takes Diaby, Song, Eboue, Clichy, Squillaci, Koscielny and Sagna with him. It’s logical. Why build a new side when you have a ready-made and loyal French club side ?

Fabregas has said on Spanish radio that he doesn’t regret trying to leave Arsenal.

He’s says in today’s Times that he questions the winning mentality of his Arsenal teammates. We all question that, Cesc. And we question other aspects of this team.

I really feel for Fabregas. He’s been in pain since Flamini and Hleb left. Those three put Arsenal top of the table for six months. Yes, that was the work of 20 players. But it would never have happened without those three.

In South Africa, Fabregas said : When I’m with Spain, it’s  not like Arsenal, we get DVDs and information on our opponents.

In his captain’s programme notes for the first game of the season Fab4 said : I’m not going to talk about the summer. I’m here for this season, I’ll do my best.

Arsenal v Birmingham is on Saturday at 3pm.

Fabregas is not playing. And Vermaelen isn’t playing either.

Since it seems to be the season for talking about your future, I’m going to make a statement about my own future next week.

It will say, ” To blog at Barcelona is a dream, But I’m happy at Arsenal. Let’s see what happens at the end of the season.”
