From Ben:
Hello Myles,
Arsene Wenger became the Arsenal manager in September 1996.
I was only 8 years old. As I turn 30 today, he still remains the gaffer.
I was hoping he’d deliver three points as a birthday gift, but he was too miserly to oblige.
In all seriousness, what did I just watch? I knew we weren’t going to do anything today just by looking at the Starting XI: El-Neny, Iwobi, and Welbeck all starting was asking for trouble.
And Xhaka. Xhaka is one of the worst signings from AW.
I’ve been saying this for 1.5 years: Xhaka is a glorified Denilson. What does it take for him to be dropped? Moreover, he needs to be flogged off to another team.
Today was exactly like Liverpool away – same abject attitude. The players aren’t playing for the shirt, for AW, or for even themselves. I said it after Liverpool – Arsene Wenger has lost the dressing room.
AW has seemingly lost all faith in Walcott. Ozil on the bench, Alexis nowhere to be seen. Contract issues abound. Taking Lacazette off in the 70th minute in every match. Wanting to put Wilshere on in the 85th minute (85th minute! What is that going to do?).
Normally my emails have some type of coherent message embedded in the ranting, but alas not today – just like Arsenal, I’m all over the place.
Reality: 9 points behind Citeh. Three losses from the opening eight matches. Ozil and Alexis contract and commitment issues persist. Team selection issues still going on. Not a chance of finishing in the top 6.
And a bold prediction: Arsene Wenger will be sacked this season (or will walk on his own accord), he will not last to May.
I truly believe this.
Myles says :
30 is a lovely age to be, Ben. You might not realise that.
Hope you are right about King Wenger finishing this season.
Because when Wenger goes, Kroenke might sell the club.
Mark Lawrenson said on the radio that after the FA Cup Final, Wenger had a meeting with Kroenke at his hotel.
Kroenke apparently said : From now on just report to me, not the board.
