Lucas Perez v Wilshere v Diaby/ Ashley Cole was appreciated by Chelsea

From depeche Mode:

Hi Myles,

Over the years Wenger has been known to give opportunities and develop many a player.

Which is why it’s puzzling to me.

What on earth has Lucas Perez done to receive such shoddy treatment?

Same with Joel Campbell last year. At least with Perez I think he did a good job each time he was given an opportunity. I can think of a hundred other players who have performed worse and still seem to be in Wenger’s good books. Think Diaby, Wilshere (who still has his #10 shirt).

Yaya Sanogo got more opportunities than Perez, who was a pretty good striker in Spain.

I think Lucas Perez was played out of position last year and is a better player than Theo Walcott to say the least. And I am not sure Lacazette is worth £50m. But only time will tell.

It seems that for Wenger to rate a player and be given opportunities the biggest criteria is to be French. No wonder Ashley Cole wanted to get the hell out.

Myles says:

I saw Kenny Sansom play at Selhurst Park before he played for Arsenal.

Sansom was a terrific left back but Ashley Cole was better and he won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012. He’d never have won that at Arsenal.

Ashley Cole is England’s most-capped full back (107) and he’s still playing for LA Galaxy.

Ashley said the Arsenal team was run by a French clique, so he moved to Chelsea, where he already knew Frank and JT  and Joe Cole very well.

Ashley’s speed, skill and tenacity were phenomenal. Nobody else ever tamed the young Cristiano Ronaldo.

After Cole left, Henry and Pires were never really such an overwhelming force on the left flank. He won so many balls for them in a left-sided team, supplied them so well, raced forward on so many overlaps.

Wenger didn’t fight to keep the best left back in the world.

As soon Wilshere was loaned to Bournemouth I said: he’ll never play for Arsenal again. I was sure of that.

Walcott? He is a tweeting little twat who doesn’t have the balls to move anywhere else.
