Ajax were too young to give ruthlessly rugged Man Utd a game

I came home last night at 10.45 having taped the Europa final.

And I was also taping the highlights on ITV.

I said, “Don’t tell me the score. I might watch the whole match.”

But, after a hectic working day and a fun evening at the Ju-Ju Club, a new venue for Book Slam, I was too tired to watch the whole game.

So I watched the highlights…. and there were none.

Maybe Jose Mourinho went to Old Trafford to become a Red Devil, to acquire a bit of swagger and style.

But that hasn’t happened yet.

It was same old belt-and-braces football.

United won 2-0 but they are still boring to watch.

I would have sent Mata off for that tackle because he missed the ball by six yards.

The ref gave him a yellow because he’s not a malicious player.

Ryan Giggs would have made that tackle.

Ajax could do something next season. But they need three experienced players.

VERDICT: Glad I missed it.

PS. Aussie compere-comedienne Felicity Ward was hilarious last night and we had a chat in the intermission.

When she said, “I used to live in Crouch End,” my reply was “I used  to live in Rokesly Avenue!”
