Hi Myles,
PS : This piece is about Arsenal. I hope you understand what I mean by that.
I really don’t understand what you mean by that. Would you help us slowpokes understand?
Thanks for so many years of great writing. ANR is my first port of call on the internet every day.

Hi Niel,
Do you know Linda Ronnie at the Business School?
She’s a Gooner and a big tennis fan.
What do I mean by that?
I mean, quite simply, that Arsenal will never win the Champions League.
I write about teams who do things that we would love to see Arsenal do.
I’m really saying: You and your Gooner friends will never have that moment. You’ll never have that joyous moment of dream-fulfilment that Liverpool and Man United fans had.
Because Arsenal lack ambition and your club is run by a brainy old dictator who once said,”I can’t imagine retiring without winning it.”
I don’t support one club, I just like good matches, great players and heroic deeds.
In 1984 I saw the Liverpool plane come back from Rome and the steps were pushed up to the aircraft door and the door of the plane opened and Graeme Souness stood in the doorway in a collarless white shirt.
The captain held up the Cup With Big Ears for the fans
The mighty Liverpool had beaten Roma on penalties in their own stadium!
Wenger’s Arsenal will never equal legendary feats like Rome 1984.
Let alone flying to Istanbul in 2005 and going 3-0 down to AC Milan and coming back to win it with a Roy Of The Rovers performance from the inspirational Stevie Gerrard.
That Final was so spectacular, so memorable, a buzz that lasted for days, an unforgettable high point.
Yes, Arsenal have played thrilling football, enjoyed many deserved successes, and won loads of trophies.
But AFC remains an essentially careful club who run a big business that makes loadsamoney.
Alas, Wenger will never leave, never delegate, never change his ways.
But he’ll always talk a good game and boast about being top four for 20+ years.
