Wenger, Gazidis might wait till midnight on August 31

We all knew that no transfers would happen at Arsenal this week.

So I’m not impatient or frustrated. I don’t see any point in being neurotic about it. I realised that Wenger and Gazidis are waiting to get better value at the end of the transfer window

Let’s face it, pre-season is boring. Pre-season is a phoney war. Pre-season is training. Pre-season games are training. If pre-season games are televised, they’re still training.

Normally, we rely on transfers to enliven the pre-season period. That has not happened. Premier League clubs have signed some players but not exciting players.

Why? Because nobody has any money.

Only two clubs have money : Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Real Madrid can sign the best players of their rivals : Kaka, Cristiano, Xabi Alonso.

Man City can only sign players from their rivals: Roque Santa Cruz, Gareth Barry, Tevez, Kolo and Ade.

Almost everyone else is waiting to get better value at the end of the window. So August 16-31 will be livelier than July 1-August 15.

Wenger confirmed exactly that by what he said yesterday. ” “We make a few enquiries for players, but we are nowhere near to signing anybody at the moment.”

He also said, “Usually the transfer market speeds up from August 26 up to midnight on 31st – especially in the last two hours.”

That will be an exciting two hours for Mr Gazidis.
Good luck, Ivan.
