Maybe.
But that doesn’t mean the Irish will win.
As you know, Northern Ireland only lost 1-0 to Poland.
That match showed their desire and organisation
Then came their 2-0 victory over Ukraine, the worst of the 24 teams in France.
Kyle Lafferty, the big striker, is back today to battle with accomplished Welsh captain Ashley Williams.
Swanaeas skipper Williams says “One thing we can do as well is fight. I think we have played very well in this tournament, especially the other night against Russia with the ball. But it is a given that this Wales team is physical, and matches the work rate of the opposition and fights really. We know it will be a tough, physical game against Northern Ireland but we will more than match that.”
Mostly, it looks like the stage is set for the Gareth Bale Show.
He’s spectacular and explosive, able to slalom through almost any defence, and he’s almost as good with his head as he is with his feet.
Above all, Bale is confident – and football is 90% confidence.
