Arsenal badly need a striker who is brave, direct and box-savvy.
Here is an African Tony Cottee who is playing in the French league.
He is not as good as Tony Cottee but he’s what Arsenal need.
He is chunky and bold and 28.
I know zilch about his private life, his injury record, his current wages, or his possible transfer fee. And, of course, I have no idea how long he has left on his contract.
This is the type of guy who could make a difference. He would fit in to Arsenal’s style of play. He would give the team something they haven’t got and can never get from Adebayor or van Persie or Bendtner or Eduardo.
He is direct. He is very direct. He’s a cross between Samuel Eto’o, Ian Wright and Obafemi Martins.
This season he has scored 15 in 21 starts and 2 sub appearances in Lique 1.
If this stocky, explosive predator had been playing for Arsenal this season he would have scored 30 goals.
He can play the type of football that Arsenal Wenger wants to see. Adebayor can’t. Adebayor is not Wenger’s type of player. He is a big, clumsy athlete who contradicts everything we have seen from Arsene Wenger’s attacking play since 1996. He falls over, the ball gets away from him, he scuffs shots. He is just an energetic battering ram, a stopgap who can keep Arsenal in the top four until 2011.
Marc Overmars did not need eight chances to score a goal. Nicholas Anelka did not need eight chances to score a goal. Dennis Bergkamp did not need eight chances to score a goal. Jurgen Klinsmann did not need eight chances to score a goal. Fernando Torres does not need eight chances.
It’s simple : Arsenal need a proven striker who is brave, direct and box-savvy.
Without this guy, or somebody just like him, they are wasting their time. And your time. And my time.
