From Fiona : Spurs
Hi Myles,
Love your site. However, I would say there is a huge gulf between Fiorentina and Barcelona.
Let’s see how Tottenham fare when they face some pressure. Fiorentina haven’t been at the top table for a while.
Myles says:
Neither have the once mighty AC Milan.
Football goes in cycles, Fiona, as you well know. Clubs in every league are either slipping down the division or clawing their way up, with a few ticking over in the middle or quite near the top.
Fiorentina are third but third in Serie A isn’t what it once was. Looking at Roma on Tuesday night, fourth isn’t what it was either.
Never under-estimate the work by hundreds of unknown people that goes into keeping Juventus at the top table.
Pochettino’s Tottenham are at the beginning of an upswing.
It’s far too soon to say what they might do in 2017 or 2018, if he stays there. On paper Spurs look vulnerable because they only have one centre forward but Harry Kane plays more games than anybody else in their squad. Don’t ask me how he does that.
Leicester have been the story of the season: Vardy,Mahrez, Ranieri? Bloody hell! How long can they keep winning?
Compared to Leicester, Spurs have been almost invisible in the last six months. Also: Manchester United have been making the wrong kind of headlines and everybody’s asking, “Why are they so bad?”
If Spurs go top, that’s when the pressure starts, I’d say.
