It’s horrible when it’s out of your hands.
And it’s mean to hope other teams lose. But Arsenal fans are hoping Manchester United will lose to Bolton tonight. And they’re hoping Spurs beat Chelsea.
How good are Chelsea right now? We will find out tonight.
I watched the Man City game where Robbie Keane scored a fabulous goal that even Torres couldn’t have scored. Then Ramos took him off and Robbie, one of my favourite players for eight years, got upset. I would never take Robbie Keane off but if Ramos wanted to rest him he should have played Darren Bent because Man City away is not an important game. City beat Spurs 2-1 and it didn’t matter.
Chelsea at the Lane IS an important game.
I would love to think that Ledley King, Woodgate and Robinson, if he is fit, can play out of their skins tonight and prevent Chelsea getting three points. But Chelsea are much, much stronger in midfield.
One aspect of this week is intriguing : John Terry will face Berbatov, then Adebayor.
Two totally different experiences against two wholly different animals : Berbatov is supercool, all flicks and finesse, a touch player par excellence, a world class finisher. Adebayor is a raging bull, an African gladiator, a one-man whirlwind of long limbs. No Premiership striker is as cute as Berbatov. And no Premiership striker is as physically challenging as Adebayor.
Of course Terry isn’t playing on his own. Ricardo Carvalho is a great defender and a true bandit. If I was Avram Grant I’d play Makelele to help against Keane & Berbatov and use the bullying Mikel to help against Adebayor. If Mikel gives away a free-kick it doesn’t matter. Arsenal don’t score from direct free-kicks.
I’m betting on Manchester United beating Bolton.
Haven’t checked the odds yet. Sir Alex has been squealing about Kevin Davies, the dirtiest player in the Prem over the last four years.
I’ve been reading a piece about Michael Ballack.
