A winning mentality.
Wrighty was talking about mentality.
“Arsenal must cope with the pressure of people expecting it to be their year for once. People talk of a winning mentality. It does count for a lot and at the moment, they don’t have it.”
“It’s OK having everyone tell you this is your best chance in years — now they need to show they have the mental toughness to go all the way.”
On what we’ve seen so far, I agree.
I hated seeing that knee injury to Kevin De Bruyne last night.
Man City beat City 4-3 on aggregate and will play Liverpool in the Capital One Cup Final on Feb 28.
When Yaya Toured went off in 66, KDB came on as a sub, scored within five minutes to make it 3-3 on aggregate, then made the winning goal for Aguero, then got injured by an awkward challenge from centreback Funes Mori.
The goal De Bruyne scored so beautifully came from a cross by Raheem Sterling when the ball was over the line before he cut it back across the goal. The linesman was on the far side.
Then KDB whipped over a sublime cross that arrowed down onto Aguero’s head and the striker headed home forcefully for 4-3 on aggregate.
Moments later he was fouled by Funes Mori. Adding insult to injury, Everton keeper Joel Robles harangued De Bruyne for faking & time-wasting and tried to pick him off.
Who is he to insult the best footballer in the Premier League?
KDB went off on a stretcher with his right leg in a brace and is believed to have medial ligament damage. Will he play at Wembley four weeks from now?
Last week Everton boss Roberto Martinez was telling Ross Barkley to take more risks with his passing.
After 18 minutes Barkley got the ball and powered forward to the D and fired a right-foot shot low into the net.
I wanted Barkley & Co to win and after 75 was screaming, “Come on,Everton! You’re better than this!”
But they weren’t.
Just another game Everton could have won if they’d played a bit better.
