Watford v Citeh : 3 goals created by full backs

First one came in 54 minutes.

Ben Watson fired an inswinging corner to the near post, where Kolarov was holding Capoue with both arms.

As the ball came flying low towards him, Capoue was off-balance and couldn’t move, so he raised his right arm level with Kolarov’s face and the flight of the ball beat both of them and hit the top of Kolarov’s head and skimmed into the net.

Kolarov was crafty enough to prevent a header by Capoue but by doing that he scored an own-goal that put Man City 1-0 down at Watford.

WHAT A PITIFUL WAY TO DEFEND A CORNER!

Very bad full back play which was suitably punished.

1-0 after 54 minutes.

Pellegrini brought Navas on for Sterling, then Bony for Mangala.

When City won a corner on the left, Kolarov fired a bullet to the near post and Yaya Toure volleyed high inside the near post with his left foot.

1-1 after 82 minutes.

Then Sagna roared down the wing and hit a good cross into the penalty area.

Where Aguero rose with sublime timing to head into the net.

1-2 after 84 minutes.

A close-fought game in which Watford were rather unlucky.

The difference was two flashes of class by Yaya and Kun.

Kolarov may have reflected that football is a life of ups and downs.

He gave away a stupid own-goal but made a terrific equaliser.
